School board trustees are the members of the district school board. They are locally-elected representatives of the public and serve as the community’s advocate for public education.

They must maintain a focus on student achievement and well-being while making decisions that represent the interests of its constituents.

    • Jan. 1, 2019 - First day to apply by mail for ballot
    • Jan. 16, 2019 - First day to file an application for a place on the ballot
    • Feb. 15, 2019 - Deadline to file application for place on ballot
    • May 4, 2019 - Election Day

Apply to Run for MISD School Board

The filing period for interested candidates begins Jan. 16, 2019 and ends on Feb. 15, 2019 at 5 p.m. Election Day is Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Filing Campaign Finances

Candidates must appoint a campaign treasurer and file all required financial statements in accordance with applicable law and directives under the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC).

Political Advertising - Do's & Don'ts

The Texas Election Law requires certain disclosures and notices on political advertising. Make sure your political advertising and campaign communications comply with the law.
